The Indian Bride
The Indian Bride
Filled with fear
N excitement
Doubts n expectations
And dreams of her life ahead
Curled up into herself
She sits out there quietly.
Beautiful as ever,
Shining amidst the crowd of her relatives
She is like a POLE star
Lost in her own thoughts of afar
While the sisters, brothers and friends dance & sing
She is the only one quiet and sitting
She then smiles and gets up
Starting to join the merry ones
But then her mind drifts
Drifts away to thoughts
Thoughts of her future, the new life that awaits…
She blushes deep red,
As she thinks of the groom,
Her lips curl upwards,
Lighting her face abloom..
But then,
trickles a tear,
Down the lashes on to the cheek,
She herself doesn’t know,
If for sorrow or joy - which emotion does it speak.
She shakes her head,
Wipes the tear,
Gets up again to join the cheer.
Not pondering on the impending future,
Leaving it to the destiny mere,
Enjoying the moment, enjoying herself,
Making most of the time left with her dear…
Whilst she awaits the new life and is eager,
In her heart, along goes a prayer….
That may her new life unfold -
One day at a time,
Slowly, beautifully and peacefully,
filled with joy love and happiness,
and not any fear.
